In their words
I came for one evening because a neighbour asked me to. I have not really stopped coming since.
What surprised me was how ordinary it felt. Nobody asked me anything. There was simply a place to sit.
My children learned the shlokas here before they learned them at home. That is not a small thing.
मेरे बच्चों ने यहाँ आकर वह सीखा जो मैं उन्हें घर पर नहीं सिखा पाया।
These quotations are placeholders. Real ones should be gathered with each person's permission and attributed as they prefer.
How people usually begin
There is no correct way in. This is simply what tends to happen.
-
Come to a Saturday
Arrive a little before it starts. Sit anywhere. Nobody will ask you for anything, and you can leave whenever you like.
-
Come back
The second visit is the one that matters. By the third, people will know your face and you will know theirs.
-
Find something to carry
Eventually most people end up doing something — chopping, teaching, driving, setting out chairs. That is how you become part of it.
मैं यहाँ सिर्फ़ जानकारी लेने नहीं आया — मैं इस समुदाय का हिस्सा बनना चाहता हूँ।
If that is closer to the truth than anything else on this page, then the next step is simply a date and a time.
